Greater Shepparton is excited to offer a once in a lifetime opportunity to dine outdoors in Fed Square.
The menu will be inspired by Greater Shepparton produce and matched perfectly with local wines and ciders. This unique opportunity is a partnership between Greater Shepparton and Taxi Kitchen’s Executive Chef Tony Twitchett.
Tony Twitchett’s food philosophy stems from his upbringing in rural North West Victoria, where eating seasonal and local has always happened.
Tony discovered his passion for food by preparing family meals with his three elder brothers, all chefs and his Mum who was also an accomplished cook. It was a time when what you ate was what you had grown, harvested or fished.
At the age of 17, he moved to Melbourne to join his chef brothers Paul and Peter at Royal Arcade restaurant Luciano’s, before starting an apprenticeship at Stokehouse and meeting his culinary inspiration Michael Lambie. Tony worked a stint at Ezards in the city before moving back to St Kilda to work with chef Michael Lambie once again at Circa. The two developed a great friendship which continued when Tony moved to Taxi Dining Room in Federation Square alongside Michael in 2004 and at the age of 26 was appointed Head Chef.
Tony’s travels in China and Southeast Asia have inspired his love of those eponymous flavour profiles.
Tony has been at Taxi Kitchen as our Executive chef and has shaped our food offering for twelve years, developing an incredibly passionate and talented team. The Taxi alumni are spread across Melbourne and the world and his signature is now across Transit Rooftop Bar, Taxi Riverside, as well as Taxi Kitchen, shaping the very soul of what we do.
Despite training in traditional European cooking techniques, Tony’s breadth of experience in the different cuisines of the world has led to him continuing his signature gastronomic style embracing Contemporary Australian ideals.
You can find us at Federation Square, Melbourne from 9–21 April 2018.
